Last month, Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville defeated Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez to become the Women’s Tag Team Champions. Unfortunately, Deville suffered an ACL injury during the Tag Team match against Charlotte Flair and Bianca Belair on the July 28th episode of SmackDown. Later, Deville said that she will be out for a long time.
However, Chelsea Green stated on social media that she has no desire to relinquish the title. Green said she contacted lawyers to prevent WWE from stripping her of the title. She even held auditions to find a new tag team partner. R-Truth, Matt Cardona, Cathy Kelley, Mick Foley, and many others applied for the position.
Last night, Chelsea Green and Adam Pearce had a backstage segment, where Piper Niven made her return. Niven grabbed one of the Championships and said that she is Chelsea's new tag team partner. Green then accepted her.
