WWE and AEW Collaborate For John Cena's 20th Anniversary

WWE and AEW Collaborate For John Cena's 20th Anniversary

John Cena made his highly anticipated return on last night’s episode of RAW to celebrate his 20th anniversary in WWE. Mr. McMahon appeared on WWE television again and introduced Cena to the fans.

The 16-time world Champion thanked fans who supported him throughout his career. However, Cena stated that he is now 45 and does not know when he will wrestle again.

The Cenation Leader appeared on several segments during Monday Night RAW and had a heated altercation with United States Champion Theory. It could lead to their potential match at SummerSlam.

Kurt Angle, JBL, Stephanie McMahon, Trish Stratus, Randy Orton and Stone Cold Steve Austin appeared in video messages to congratulate John Cena, who is celebrating his 20th anniversary in WWE. Most notably, three current AEW wrestlers appeared on WWE television to wish for John Cena. Those are none other than Daniel Bryan, Chris Jericho and Big Show.

Fighful Select reported that AEW president Tony Khan gave approval for Daniel Bryan, Chris Jericho and Big Show to appear on Monday Night RAW to wish John Cena.

We’re told that the situation was very straightforward in making it happen. The idea was pitched, and then AEW founder Tony Khan was contacted in order to see if he’d be okay with it.
Given the circumstances surrounding the videos, he was said to be okay with the videos and provided approval. A WWE source told us that they were able to land virtually everyone they hoped to for the “congrats” videos. These instances have been few and far between since AEW launched in 2019.

Several months ago, Chris Jericho appeared on Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Session. Also, AJ Styles appeared on the Impact Wrestling Slammiversary pay-per-view last week. It seems like Vince McMahon and Tony Khan opened the Forbidden Door for wrestlers to appear on other shows, which is a good sign for the wrestling industry.

We will update you when we receive more details. Stay tuned with The Spotlight.
